It opens with ambrette musk and a bright, spicy heart of nutmeg, pink pepper, coriander and cinnamon, then settles into a base of patchouli, copahu balm, cedar, ambroxan and sandalwood. Our take
I like the heavy patchouli and warm spice here; it reads rich and a little boozy on my skin but can go synthetic or sharp on others. With a 4.04 average and lots of love/like votes balanced by a handful of dislikes, I always sample it on skin first.

Palissandre d'Or has a bottle with a squat, broad profile and rounded shoulders, its dense vertical fluting running across the body, shoulder and base. The oversized dark cap repeats that ribbed pattern in a rounded rectangular shape. A teal label with gold edging and lettering fills much of the centre, while the clear-looking contents remain visible around it. It is an unusually assured object, with enough surface detail to avoid feeling routine.
Original or Clone
Alberto Morillas’s credit gives Palissandre d'Or a clear point of distinction: we know who composed the original. Its woody, amber and patchouli character also helps explain why one house has attempted an interpretation, though that single attempt says more about the fragrance’s standing than about resemblance. We find the original the more compelling choice for readers who care about the credited perfumer and its distinctive fluted, teal-and-gold bottle.
