Damascus Musk (Al-Jazeera Perfumes, 2019) by Fanny Bal is a unisex composition built on a clear note pyramid: a mandarin and clove opening moves into a dense white-floral heart of tuberose, rose and lily-of-the-valley, and resolves on sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla. The result is a creamy white-floral core set against a woody-vanilla base with a citrus-spice lift up top; rose and tuberose register strongly while patchouli and sandalwood hold the drydown. The perfume is well-rated by the small voting pool and is frequently noted for its smooth, non-offensive character and strong performance.
Our take
I like Damascus Musk for its plush white-floral heart and warm, lasting base; mandarin and clove add a polite opening while sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla keep it comfortable for long wear.
