Released in 2007, GeoBlack Man by Alviero Martini arrived during a phase when men's perfumery often mixed gourmand sweetness with warm spices and aromatic herbs. Marketed for men, it opens with a fruity-spicy top where pineapple and cinnamon sit over a thyme hint, moves into a heart of licorice and cardamom with a trace of lavender, and dries down to caramel and coffee anchored by musk and cedar. The scent reads as sweet and warm-spicy with clear caramel and coffee accords. With a near-4/5 average from 75 voters, it is generally liked by wearers, though some note variability between batches and releases.
Our take
I reach for GeoBlack Man when I want a sweet, slightly dark scent that isn’t clingy; the caramel and licorice work well together, the coffee is subtle, and the spicy pineapple top leaves quickly. It’s pleasant and gets plenty of positive votes, but uneven batches and hit-or-miss longevity keep it from being a daily go-to for me.
