Find Amouage Beloved Man

Amouage Beloved Man is the benchmark for this scent profile. Alternatives may be worth comparing, but they are independent products and we do not present them as equivalent to Amouage's own fragrance.

They do not replace the original fragrance, its presentation, or the version created under the brand's own quality control. If that is what you are looking for, search the official site or trusted retailers below.

About Amouage Beloved Man

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Released in 2013 during a period when niche houses were reinterpreting classic masculine styles, Amouage Beloved Man was created by Alexandra Carlin and Emilie Coppermann for men. The scent opens with bright grapefruit, elemi and cardamom with a peppery lift, moving into a saffron, orris and jasmine heart and settling on cedar, leather, vetiver, patchouli, guaiac wood and musk. It reads as aromatic and woody with warm and fresh spicy facets and a citrus edge. With a 4.13/5 average from 1,094 votes, it is generally well regarded, though some wearers find certain facets sharp or a bit dated.

Our take

I like Beloved Man for its classy, slightly retro citrus-spice opening and powdery orris heart; it smells expensive and often lasts well on me, but a metallic elemi/sharp grapefruit edge on close sniff can feel synthetic and trigger a headache if I overdo it.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Beloved Man combines a clear rectangular body and pale yellow liquid with a gold-toned fan cap that opens around a dark red-purple centre. The cap is metal, and its theatrical shape gives the otherwise familiar bottle a costume-jewellery quality. A front medallion adds more ceremony, while the visible Beloved name keeps the presentation grounded. It’s a slightly awkward combination of conventional body and ornate top, but that awkwardness is part of the character. The result is unmistakably Amouage, more ceremonial than elegant and difficult to confuse with a plain bottle.

Original or Clone

Beloved Man has a clear claim to reference status: three houses have tried to reproduce its aromatic, woody, warm-spicy character. That attention does not tell us how closely any interpretation performs, but it does show that this particular fragrance has become a target in its own right. Alexandra Carlin and Emilie Coppermann are credited as its perfumers, giving the original a named act of composition that an interpretation cannot share. With no comparative evidence to settle resemblance, we find the original the more defensible choice for readers who want this specific work rather than an attempt at it.
