Released in 2016 during a period when niche houses revisited classic fougère and woody-spicy forms, Bracken Man by Amouage is a masculine fragrance from Olivier Cresp that leans on woody, warm spicy and fresh spicy accords. The opening pairs clove and citrus lift with lavender and aromatic geranium, while cedar, sandalwood and cinnamon form a creamy, woody heart before a patchouli and musk base. It holds a 4.17/5 average from about 1,500 votes, and roughly half of voters mark it as love, giving it a visible following and some debate among fans.
Our take
I like Bracken Man for its bold clove and solid woody core; the citrus and lavender keep the opening bright and the sandalwood with clean musk softens the drydown. The vote split makes sense to me: about half of voters love it, and community feedback on performance matches my experience. Seventy-four percent of voters rate its longevity long-lasting or better and 57% rate the sillage strong, and I find it lasts and projects reliably. That said, the upfront clove can be sharp and the fougère profile is traditional rather than surprising.
