Amouage Epic Man is the benchmark for this scent profile. Alternatives may be worth comparing, but they are independent products and we do not present them as equivalent to Amouage's own fragrance.

They do not replace the original fragrance, its presentation, or the version created under the brand's own quality control. If that is what you are looking for, search the official site or trusted retailers below.

About Amouage Epic Man

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Amouage Epic Man (2009), created by Randa Hammami, is a men’s oriental-woody release that sits among the house’s resin-forward offerings. The composition opens on pink pepper, olibanum and saffron with nutmeg, cardamom and caraway adding bright spice before a myrrh and geranium heart smooths the transition. The base is dense: incense, oud, leather, castoreum, patchouli, cedar and sandalwood anchored by styrax and musk, producing amber, warm spicy, smoky, woody and leather accords. With a 4.18/5 average from 3,845 ratings and a strong love/like showing, it is widely regarded as a noteworthy Amouage masculine scent.

Our take

I like Epic Man for its sharp, spicy opening and the heavy resinous-oud base that follows. Saffron and pink pepper make the first spray lively, then myrrh and leather settle the scent into a darker, more mature phase. On my skin it often lasts well and projects solidly, reflecting the community’s high longevity reports, but I’ve read about and experienced variable performance across batches. It works best for cold-weather evenings; I enjoy wearing it, but I don’t reach for it as an everyday fragrance because of its weight and occasional inconsistency.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Epic Man keeps the rectangular body deep green and glossy, then lets the broad flared cap provide the drama. Its reflective gold tones catch the light, while a small green inset echoes the body below. A large circular emblem gives the front a formal, ceremonial finish without changing the familiar outline. The presentation is grand and slightly old-fashioned, so it won’t appeal to every minimalist shelf, but it’s unmistakably Amouage. The dark body creates a strong backdrop for the ornate top, making the bottle more characterful than its basic shape suggests.

Original or Clone

Epic Man earns a strong case as the original when a reader wants the release being treated as a reference for this particular amber, warm-spicy, fresh-spicy and smoky character. Six interpretations from four houses show that its character has attracted attempts at reproduction, though they tell us nothing about resemblance or performance. Randa Hammami’s credited authorship adds a specific creative source to the release. On the evidence available, buying an interpretation is reasonable, but the original has the clearer claim to being the reference point.
