Find Amouage Interlude Woman

Amouage Interlude Woman is the benchmark for this scent profile. Alternatives may be worth comparing, but they are independent products and we do not present them as equivalent to Amouage's own fragrance.

They do not replace the original fragrance, its presentation, or the version created under the brand's own quality control. If that is what you are looking for, search the official site or trusted retailers below.

About Amouage Interlude Woman

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Interlude Woman by Amouage, released in 2012 and created by Karine Vinchon Spehner, is a polarizing, richly layered fragrance for women with a devoted following. It opens on a bright, slightly bitter citrus and marigold edge where bergamot and grapefruit meet ginger, then moves into a resinous heart in which incense, immortelle, opoponax and honey sit with a nutty kiwi-walnut facet plus rose, jasmine and coffee. The base folds leather and oud into amber-sweet sandalwood, vanilla, tonka and oakmoss, underlining the dominant amber, sweet and warm-spicy accords. Voters praise its depth and longevity while opinions split over the heavy, leathery and boozy elements.

Our take

I find Interlude Woman bold and deliberate: a bright citrus-marigold start that, after a short while, becomes thick with immortelle, incense and honey. It lasts and projects as the community notes, which I like for cold evenings, but the leathery, boozy base can feel overpowering on warmer days. Some bottles show a fresh kiwi-walnut twist that softens the resinous core, so try it on skin before deciding.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Interlude Woman makes the familiar Amouage rectangle bolder through its saturated deep-blue body and gold-coloured ribbed dome cap. Pale lettering and a central circular ornament provide contrast, while the cap brings the house’s usual ceremonial note. The broad proportions are pleasing, although the decoration leaves little room for subtlety. It won’t suit every quiet shelf, but it is immediate and recognisable. The strong blue colour gives the bottle much of its identity, making this presentation more forceful than delicate and more memorable than a neutral version would be.

Original or Clone

Karine Vinchon Spehner’s authorship gives Interlude Woman a clear reason to buy as the original: it is a named composition with a credited creator, a distinction an interpretation cannot carry. Its amber, sweet and warm-spicy character has attracted attempts from three houses, making the fragrance a reference point rather than an obscure target. That does not make an interpretation a poor choice, but it makes the original worth buying for readers who want a credited creator.
