Find Amouage Lustre

Amouage Lustre is the benchmark for this scent profile. Alternatives may be worth comparing, but they are independent products and we do not present them as equivalent to Amouage's own fragrance.

They do not replace the original fragrance, its presentation, or the version created under the brand's own quality control. If that is what you are looking for, search the official site or trusted retailers below.

About Amouage Lustre

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Released in 2024 by Amouage at a moment when many houses focused on resinous ambers and refined woods, Lustre is a unisex composition from Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain. It opens on cool cardamom and powdery orris before settling into a creamy heart of sandalwood, cedar and earthy patchouli. The base leans heavily on myrrh, benzoin, labdanum and vanilla, with ambrarome and cypriol adding smoky, resinous depth. The scent reads amber-forward, warm-spicy and woody, with balsamic and powdery facets. Reception is mixed but notable: strong fans exist alongside a clear split in opinion among reviewers.

Our take

I find Lustre most successful as a cold-weather evening piece: it smells like toasted benzoin and myrrh wrapped around creamy sandalwood, with cardamom and orris giving a polite top. The community rating (3.85/5) and the large number of love votes match my sense that it works very well for those who want heavy, resinous amber and long wear. My main gripe is value, price feels high for what you get, and in warm climates it can become cloying. For winter nights I keep a sample in rotation, but I would not wear it to a summer event.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Lustre belongs to Amouage’s newer Essences family, replacing the more theatrical cap shapes with a large plain cylinder. The warm ivory body has rounded shoulders and vertical detailing along the lower sides, while a narrow gold-toned band and centred pale plaque identify the front. The monochrome treatment feels calm and polished, although the oversized cap makes the proportions look slightly top-heavy. There’s less old-fashioned Amouage drama here, but the soft body and clear plaque give Lustre a quiet, modern appeal. Its simplicity is deliberate rather than anonymous.

Original or Clone

Lustre’s amber, warm-spicy and woody profile has clearly attracted attempts to reproduce it, giving the original genuine standing. We see four interpretations from three houses, each defined by that attempt. The credited perfumers, Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain, add a specific authorship an interpretation cannot share. On the evidence available, the original is the more defensible buy for readers who want Lustre itself.
