Our take
I respect Resala's intent: a maximalist rose-oud gourmand that refuses to be subtle. The longevity and projection are insane, it stays on scarves and lingers on skin for hours, but the oud smells synthetic to me and the chocolate-vanilla combo tastes very sweet and one-note. It works brilliantly for winter nights if you want to make a statement, and careful dosing is key. I enjoy the rose thread, but I wish the oud felt less medicinal and the sweetness had more restraint.

Arabian Oud Resala has a squat, rounded-corner rectangular bottle with an amber-brown liquid inside. Arabic lettering and “Resala” appear in light lettering across the front, while dark edging frames the lighter central label area. The tall feather-like, golden-yellow ornament above the neck gives this otherwise conventional shape a more distinctive presence.
Original or Clone
Resala makes a credible case for the original: four interpretations from three houses have tried to reproduce its warm-spicy, rose-and-woody profile, giving this release clear reference status. The bottle also has a distinctive feather-like ornament, which adds a small physical argument for choosing the source rather than an interpretation. We cannot judge resemblance or performance here, but the breadth of attention makes the original the more defensible purchase.
