About the Original
About Aramis Perfume Calligraphy
The fragrance these clones are inspired by.
Perfume Calligraphy (Aramis, 2012) is a warm spicy oriental-woody fragrance for women and men that centers on a saffron-rose heart resting on a smoky agarwood base. It opens with cardamom, lemon and cinnamon before moving into rose, saffron and myrrh, and finally settling on oud, patchouli, amber and musk. The blend emphasizes warm spices and a restrained oud presence, giving a resinous, slightly smoky character rather than a raw agarwood punch. Rated 4.28/5 from 341 votes, it is generally well received by fans of spicy, resinous rose-oud compositions.
Our take
I find Calligraphy dependable for cold evenings where spice and resin work well. The opening cardamom and lemon cut through the first blast of cinnamon, then the saffron-rose heart dries down into a warm, resinous core with oud and amber. It lasts long on my skin and throws enough to be noticed at a distance, matching the community impression. If you want a raw, aggressive oud this is not it; if you want a spicy, rose-led oud that leans slightly masculine for night wear, I reach for this regularly.
