Our take
I find Russian Oud striking for how it marries raw agarwood with dark cacao; the opening can be assertive, even animalic for some, then it calms into warm leather, labdanum and myrrh that feel cozy and dense. Projection is lively at first and the longevity is very good, it lasts through a long day and into the night. The scent feels rich and focused rather than diffuse. The only real drawbacks are its limited availability and the price, but for collectors of bold oriental ouds this one is worth seeking out.

Russian Oud has a squat, rounded-rectangular bottle with softened corners and broad proportions. Transparent-looking amber-orange liquid sits behind a bright pale border, while a tall dark cap balances the large mauve, peaked label on the front. With its prominent label and strong dark-and-amber palette, the bottle feels more distinctive than a routine perfume bottle.
Original or Clone
Russian Adam’s credited authorship is the strongest reason to buy Russian Oud as the original: no interpretation carries that authorship.
