About Armand Basi Rose Lumière

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Rose Lumière by Armand Basi (2013), created by perfumer Alienor Massenet, is known as a light, summer-ready rose for women that draws both fans and critics. It opens on watery and fruity top notes with ivy and mandarin that lend a green-citrus brightness, then moves into a heart of rose water, water lily and cyclamen. The dry down rests on white musk, sandalwood and cedar, keeping the scent soft and clean. The fragrance reads strongly aquatic, fresh and floral, with clear rose and fruity facets. Across 132 votes it scores 3.51/5 and is most often chosen for daytime wear in summer.

Our take

I like Rose Lumière for hot days: it smells airy, clean and floral with a transparent rose lifted by mandarin and light fruit. The simple aquatic clarity works well for casual daytime and warm-weather outings, and many people will find it easy to wear. What bothers me is the thinness: it often dries down quickly and can verge on a soapy bubble-bath note, so anyone after depth or strong presence may be disappointed.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Armand Basi Rose Lumière’s bottle has a rounded, vertically oval body, broad shoulders, a narrow neck and a flat base, with a pale blush-pink translucent appearance. The pale pink cap is oversized against the neck and sharply stepped into angular facets, a lively contrast to the soft body. Its centered front label uses dark reddish-brown text reading “ARMAND BASI” above “rose lumière.”

Original or Clone

Alienor Massenet’s credited authorship gives Rose Lumière the strongest case for buying the original: the fragrance has a named composition behind it, while an interpretation is defined by its attempt to reproduce this release. The bottle strengthens that case: its rounded body and emphatic faceted cap make it visually more distinctive than a routine perfume vessel. Only two interpretations from two houses are tracked, so the market picture is limited; still, the original is the more grounded purchase on the evidence available.
