Released in 2017, Musc Immortel arrived during a period when niche houses were exploring dense, material-driven compositions and signature musks. Atelier des Ors worked with perfumer Marie Salamagne to create a unisex scent that reads as musky and woody with clear powdery and herbal facets. It opens with a cool iris and a green, sage-like lift over a citrus edge, moves into a rooty, smoky heart of vetiver, cypriol and patchouli, and settles on ambrette, immortelle and clean musk. The house notes a strong musky core, and the perfume has a steady fan base and a 3.97/5 rating from 339 votes, though reactions can be mixed.
Our take
I find Musc Immortel interesting and deliberate: the musk plus immortelle gives a dry, slightly maple-warm quality that lasts. The first hours can feel powdery and bold, even a little bitter to some noses, but the sweetness softens into a warm, woody-musk that lingers. Projection is strong at first, then becomes intimate. It works best for cooler weather and evening use in my view. My main gripe is the powder/maple edge, which will divide opinion; if that phase bothers you, this one may not be for daily wear.

The Bottle
Musc Immortel has a squat, rounded-rectangular bottle with curved shoulders, a clear-looking thick base, and yellow liquid. Elongated flecks or streaks radiate around the small black square label, beneath a black rounded cap. It is an unusually decorative bottle, and the internal pattern gives its otherwise compact shape real character.
Original or Clone
Marie Salamagne’s credit gives Musc Immortel a point of difference that an interpretation cannot share: this is her composition, not merely a target assembled by another house. The fragrance’s musky, woody and earthy profile has also attracted attempts from three houses, which confirms that it occupies a recognizable place in the market. That does not prove an interpretation is inferior, but it makes the original the more defensible purchase for readers who want the named work itself.
