Released in 2015, Rose Omeyyade by Atelier des Ors was created by Marie Salamagne at a time when rose-oud pairings were prominent in niche perfumery. Marketed for women and men, the scent opens on a vivid rose softened by raspberry and a spark of pink pepper, moves into a sweet heart of brown sugar with patchouli and guaiac wood, and settles on a warm base of agarwood (oud), amber and sandalwood. The scent reads as a sweet, woody rose with fruity facets and a notable oud thread, and it is well rated (4.04/5 from 901 votes) while prompting both strong fans and some critics.
Our take
I enjoy the fruity-rose opening here, the raspberry and rose feel bright and playful, and the perfume lasts far longer on my skin than I expected, with solid projection for several hours. What bothers me is how the woods can become heavy and turn the composition sugary-dark on some people, and the listed oud is often more a general resinous wood than a sharp agarwood note. Still, when the balance is right this feels like a luxurious, long-wearing rose with real personality.

The Bottle
Rose Omeyyade’s bottle has a broad, rounded-rectangular body and curved shoulders, with yellow-golden liquid carrying numerous gold flecks and dark and gold radial lines. A black, wide rounded cap, thin gold neck ring, and black square label complete it. The silhouette is conventional, but the flecks and interior pattern give this otherwise familiar bottle real visual character.

Marie Salamagne’s authorship gives Rose Omeyyade a clear reason to buy the original rather than an interpretation: this rose-led, sweet, woody fragrance is tied to a named perfumer’s composition, not merely to a list of accords.
