Chrome Pure by Azzaro (2017), created by Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux, is a citrus-woody-aquatic fragrance for men. At its core it opens on bright mandarin and bergamot that give a sharp, fresh start, then moves into a watery heart with orange blossom and a synthetic woody note from akigalawood. The base blends tonka, mate, white musk and cedar for a creamy, slightly sweet woodiness that rounds the composition. Our take
I like Chrome Pure for warm days: the citrus opening is clean and the watery-to-tonka dry down gives a soft, sunscreen-like creaminess that I find pleasant. It is not loud or aggressive; projection sits in the moderate range after the first hour. My issue is the base can feel a bit mismatched on hot days, tonka and sweet notes sometimes clash with the fresh top notes for me. Still, it’s great as an affordable, easy summer day scent when I want something bright but not attention-seeking.
