About BDK Parfums Bouquet de Hongrie

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Released in 2016 during the mid-2010s rise of independent Parisian houses, BDK Parfums' Bouquet de Hongrie is a women's fragrance created by Serge Majoullier. The perfume opens on pear, strawberry and cassis before moving to a heart of Turkish rose and jasmine sambac with a Lorenox facet that keeps the rose bright. A base of musk, amber and cedar gives a soft, powdery-musky finish. Overall impression is a fruity-rose composition with sweet and woody undertones. Community response is mixed: many find it pretty and wearable while a significant share calls it linear and sugary, which is reflected in the average rating near 3.8/5.

Our take

I like the ripe pear and strawberry opening and the soft, slightly soapy Turkish rose at the heart. It is an easy daytime scent for spring and summer, but the close projection and modest longevity leave it feeling thin after a few hours. Pleasant and crowd-friendly, yet too linear and sugary for me to buy a full bottle.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

BDK Parfums Bouquet de Hongrie comes in a tall, mostly rectangular bottle with rounded corners, a broad flat-looking base, and pale pink liquid visible through it. The large glossy-looking black cap takes up much of the upper area, while the right-set white label and dark border sharpen the contrast. It is conventional, though neatly composed.

Original or Clone

Serge Majoullier’s credited authorship is the strongest reason to buy Bouquet de Hongrie as the original. Its fruity, sweet, rose-led character has prompted an interpretation from another house, a modest sign that this release has attracted attention beyond its own house. That does not make the interpretation an unreasonable choice; it simply leaves the original with the clearer claim to the named work. For readers who care about who composed a fragrance, that distinction makes the original worth choosing.
