About Boadicea the Victorious Kahwa

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Kahwa is a 2021 release from Boadicea the Victorious by perfumer Christian Provenzano. Marketed for women and men, it centers on a warm spicy coffee accord where cardamom, clove and ginger meet a sharp eucalyptus and bay leaf lift. Saffron and neroli add floral spice while jasmine and Bulgarian rose sit behind the brew. The base moves toward woody amber with Cambodian oud, cedar, patchouli and oakmoss. Main accords register as warm spicy, woody, fresh spicy and aromatic, with a clear coffee and camphor character. With a 3.94 average from 108 votes, the fragrance divides opinion between strong fans and detractors.

Our take

I found Kahwa striking at first spray. The opening is a punch of cardamom and eucalyptus that makes the coffee note read like freshly ground beans rather than a brewed cup. On favorable skin it stays vivid and spicy, with cloves and saffron sharpening the profile and oud giving weight. On other skins the eucalyptus can feel medicinal and projection collapses after an hour, leaving a faint coffee-woody drydown. The rating and voting spread fit my experience: it will delight those seeking an intense, green coffee scent and frustrate anyone who wants a softer, more conventional gourmand.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Kahwa has the familiar round Boadicea proportions, with pale yellow colour showing around the body, a short neck and a raised lower foot. Its black, white and grey medallion is crisp and densely interlaced, giving the front more character than a plain label would. The wide tiered silver-toned cap adds a formal note without competing too much with the centre. It’s ornate without becoming gaudy, although the absence of visible naming makes the bottle feel slightly anonymous. The house signature remains clear, and that’s its main strength.

Original or Clone

Kahwa has a stronger case as an original when the bottle is part of the decision: its circular, medallion-led presentation is unusually distinctive, and the object earns attention beyond routine fragrance packaging. Christian Provenzano’s credited authorship gives a second reason to take the release on its own terms. We track one interpretation from one house, but that small field cannot support a broader market verdict. For Kahwa, the evidence supports buying the original for its distinctive presentation and named perfumer, while a reader choosing the interpretation can still make a reasonable choice.
