The Bottle

Oud Sapphire gives the familiar round bottle a softer, pink-red colourway. A pale gold-toned interlaced panel fills the front, while the oversized tiered cap adds a slightly comic flourish to the otherwise neat silhouette. The small pink-red centre is a good detail, breaking up the pale decoration and tying it back to the body. It can feel a little costume-like beside quieter perfume bottles, but that’s also what makes it memorable. This is an unapologetically ornate Sapphire variation with more personality than a predictable repeat.

Original or Clone

The bottle gives Oud Sapphire a strong reason to buy the original: it is a distinctive object, not an anonymous container. Its standing is also clear in the three houses that have tried to reproduce its leather, iris, warm-spicy and oud character. That attention does not prove that every interpretation falls short, and we have no resemblance scores to make that claim. It does show that Oud Sapphire has a defined identity; for readers who want this release itself, the original is the sounder choice.
