Boadicea the Victorious Sterling is the benchmark for this scent profile. Alternatives may be worth comparing, but they are independent products and we do not present them as equivalent to Boadicea the Victorious's own fragrance.

About Boadicea the Victorious Sterling

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Sterling by Boadicea the Victorious (2015) is a gender-neutral composition built on a crisp green tea top, a bitter galbanum heart and a base of leather, musk and vanilla. The green opening reads sharp and leafy, the galbanum adds a green-resinous, slightly bitter core, and the finish brings warm leather and sweet vanilla rounded by animalic musk. The main character is green with a strong leather backbone. Reception is polarizing: about 55% of voters love it while a substantial minority strongly dislike it. Most listeners also report very strong longevity and projection, which reinforces the scent’s confrontational nature.

Our take

I respect Sterling’s audacity: its galbanum-heavy green blast and dense leather-vanilla base last for ages, but the opening is harsh and medicinal to many, so I only recommend trying a sample before committing.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Sterling warms the recurring circular bottle with pale golden liquid glowing around its broad body. The oversized interlaced medallion and bright framing bring plenty of ornament to the front, while the bulbous tiered cap gives the top a slightly ceremonial shape. It’s recognisable and far from minimalist, though the crowded centre won’t suit quiet shelves. The gold-and-silver contrast helps, giving the bottle more variation than a straightforward repeat of the house formula. Sterling is decorative, confident and warmer in mood than its name might suggest.

Original or Clone

Sterling’s strongest case is its standing as a reference: three houses have attempted to reproduce a fragrance whose voted profile is Green, Leather and Aromatic, with Animalic also present. That attention gives the original a reason to be considered before an interpretation, even though we have no resemblance scores to declare a winner. The bottle is distinctive enough to add some pleasure to that choice, with its broad circular form and oversized plaque. An interpretation remains a reasonable call, but the evidence gives Sterling the stronger claim.
