About Boadicea the Victorious Torero

The fragrance these clones are inspired by.

Torero is a sparkling citrus-rose fragrance from Boadicea the Victorious, released in 2021 and created by Christian Provenzano. At its core it is a fruity-citrus chypre with a distinct effervescent accord that blends grapefruit, lemon and red berries with a pear and nutmeg lift. The heart settles onto a rich floral trio of rose, jasmine and heliotrope softened by cashmeran, while the base pairs dry woods and amber with vanilla, musk and cypriol for a powdery, warm finish. Market response is strong, a 4.16/5 average across 101 votes and a solid share of devoted wearers, and it is presented as a unisex scent.

Our take

I like Torero for its bright, champagne-like opening and full floral heart; the citrus and red berries cut through the rose in a pleasant way. Performance is excellent on my skin, with long lasting power and notable projection. My main issues are the price and a base that can read a touch sweet and powdery on some days, which narrows how and when I reach for it.

A Closer Look

The Bottle

Torero keeps the familiar circular outline but gives it a clear, almost luminous body. A gold-coloured lion medallion dominates the front, with an interlaced border linking the figurative emblem to Boadicea’s recurring style. The large tiered cap and collar repeat the warm colour, while the transparency stops the ornament becoming too dense. It’s flamboyant and a little over the top, but the lion gives the bottle a clear identity beyond generic knotwork. Torero feels made for display, especially if you like perfume packaging with a heraldic character.

Original or Clone

Torero’s bottle is a genuine reason to favour the original over its interpretation: the broad circular form and lion medallion make the object unusually recognisable. Christian Provenzano’s credited authorship adds a second, less visible reason; that specific act of composition belongs to this release and cannot be transferred by an interpretation. We have no comparative evidence about the fragrances themselves, so the case rests on the object and its named perfumer.
