It feels polished rather than warm or welcoming, and the repeated medallions make the decoration the main event. Distinctive it is, although the overall effect is less immediately elegant than the house's simpler colour-led bottles.

Original or Clone

The case for buying the original rests first on its standing: New York Oud’s rose, oud and fruity character has prompted eight interpretations from four houses. That attention makes this release a meaningful reference point, rather than an obscure scent being imitated by accident. We also find its asymmetrical, logo-covered bottle genuinely distinctive. An interpretation remains a reasonable alternative; the case here is for the original’s standing, not for declaring every copy a failure.
