Released in 2024 by BORNTOSTANDOUT®, Mary Jane arrived at a moment when bold green and cannabis-leaning scents were moving from niche into wider conversation. Created by Camille Chemardin and marketed for women and men, it reads as an aromatic green fragrance with fruity and woody facets. It opens on mint and grapefruit with a tart rhubarb bite and a clear cannabis-green edge, then softens into passionfruit and sage over elemi, before settling on pine, cashmere wood and a surprising caramel warmth. Reception is split: many praise its raw green cannabis character and fruit contrasts, while others find parts harsh or medicinal, reflected in a 3.59/5 average from 203 votes.
Our take
I find Mary Jane thrilling and uneven. The idea of passionfruit riding a real cannabis note with a caramel base is bold and on point when it works, but the opening can go sharp or medicinal on some skins and longevity varies wildly. With a 3.59 average and clearly mixed votes, this is one I strongly recommend testing first; when it aligns with your skin it reads like a luxe green-woody scent, but it can also turn literal and off-putting in the first ten minutes.

BORNTOSTANDOUT® Mary Jane’s bottle is predominantly white and tall, with a broad rounded-rectangular body and softly rounded lower corners. Its sharply cinched waist, flared shoulders and base, and oversized white cap give the familiar rectangular format a more assertive silhouette. Dark-red typography keeps the front legible.
Original or Clone
Camille Chemardin’s authorship gives Mary Jane a clear point of difference: this is a composed work with a named perfumer. Its Aromatic, Green and Woody character, paired with the bottle’s sharply cinched silhouette and oversized cap, gives the original a coherent case as an object and fragrance. Two houses have produced interpretations, but no comparison supports a claim about their resemblance or wear. We therefore find the original the more defensible purchase.
