About the Original
About Boucheron Boucheron
The fragrance these clones are inspired by.
Boucheron 1988, crafted by Francis Deleamont and Jean-Pierre Bethouart for women, is widely regarded as a cult classic among vintage perfume fans and scores 4.11/5 from nearly 3,000 votes. The scent opens on a punchy citrus tagetes and bergamot lift over fruity hints, then moves into a dense white- and yellow-floral heart dominated by tuberose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and narcissus. A warm, sweet amber base with vanilla, benzoin, tonka and a touch of civet and sandalwood gives it depth and a slightly animalic edge. Listeners often note its white floral, citrus, amber and woody accords and its strong, long-lasting presence.
Our take
I keep coming back to this bottle because the tuberose and marigold opening feels raw and memorable; it is unabashedly vintage and often loud on first spray. The dry down softens into warm vanilla, amber and a leathery civet note that I find handsome and grown-up. Performance matches the buzz, long wear and a strong trail, so a little goes a long way. It won’t suit someone chasing modern freshness, but for fans of classic white florals with bite, it’s one of my favorites to reach for on cool evenings.
